 **What Are Vitamins?**

**Types of Vitamins**

 Fat-Soluble Vitamins:-

  • Fat-soluble vitamins are absorbed along with fats in the food we eat and are stored in the liver and fatty tissues for later use. 
  • Because these vitamins can be stored, they don’t need to be consumed every day, but it’s still essential to get enough of them in your diet over time. 
  • The fat-soluble vitamins include Vitamin A, D, E, and K.

**Vitamin A**:

  •  This vitamin is important for maintaining healthy vision, immune function, and skin health.
  •  Vitamin A helps the body repair and maintain skin cells and supports the proper functioning of the retina, which is crucial for vision. 
  • Foods like carrots, sweet potatoes, and spinach are great sources of Vitamin A.                                                                   

                                               

**Vitamin D**:

  • Known as the "sunshine vitamin," Vitamin D helps the body absorb calcium and supports strong bones and teeth.

  •  These vitamins are absorbed directly into the bloodstream and excess amounts are excreted through urine. Water-soluble vitamins include Vitamin C and all of the B vitamins.

 **Vitamin C**:

  • Vitamin C is crucial for the immune system, skin health, and the production of collagen, a protein that helps in wound healing.

  •  It also has antioxidant properties, protecting cells from damage. 
  • Citrus fruits like oranges, strawberries, and bell peppers are rich sources of Vitamin C.

                                              

 **B Vitamins**:

  • The B vitamins are a group of essential nutrients that work together to support energy production, brain function, and the health of the nervous system.
  •  The B vitamins include:-

 **Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)**:Helps convert food into energy and supports nerve function.

 **Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)**: Plays a role in energy production and metabolism.

 **Vitamin B3 (Niacin)**: Supports skin health, digestive function, and the nervous system.

 **Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)**: Essential for brain development and the production of neurotransmitters.

 **Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin)**: Important for red blood cell production and nerve health.

These B vitamins are commonly found in foods like meat, eggs, dairy products, and whole grains.
